Do You Have Tennis Elbow and You Don't Even Play Tennis?

Joe Grant, PT, ATC, EdM

Tennis Elbow is a condition of pain at the outside bone of the elbow that becomes aggravated with wrist and arm movements, and especially when lifting objects with the affected arm.  Also called lateral epicondylitis, many people report that they "can't even lift a carton of milk" with this condition.  Lateral epicondylitis is painful due to inflammation under the tendon at your elbow that is responsible for extending and stabilizing the wrist.  It is usually caused by performing a repetitive activity (such as typing, painting or swinging a hammer), without proper conditioning of the muscles and tendons, or improper positioning of the arm.  We at Back To Action Physical Therapy are well trained in the treatment of this painful and often discouraging injury, and have rehabilitated many people with this condition back to normal functioning.  If you suffer from this or any other muscle or joint pain, we would love to talk to you about your best plan of treatment.
